Commitment Phobia Schmobia
What once was deemed
A term for losers
Has now become
One for smart choosers
To say we stay because it is
Even though in such a tiz
Is all but like a madhouse jail
A prisoner doomed inside his cell
Stay for the kids she says to me
When really it's just for the money you see
The fights and the frights
And the emptiness too
All of the pain inside of you
No way out say the preachers
to the teachers and all the speakers
got to try and try
until you die
cuz if you don’t
straighten this mess
you will be
grossly less
it's too easy
much too easy to leave
is the blame of the fools
who have never been free
the burdens they carry
they claim are of God
so they sit there and judge
with their bloodly steel rod
and you stay and you say
cuz you think it is right
though your heart is quite dead
in what once was delight
and to those who got out
of their dreadful camp marriage
found their way outside
but to all the disparage
the lawyers the judges
the neighbors and blame
and nothing no nothing
would ever be same
but in time they emerge
yes the half of all men
the ones who divorced
yes and all the women
and then off once again
looking for the right one
but what they found was a world
where they'd be all alone
yet all around
there are so many men
who wish to be loved
and reach out once again
the ladies the same
as they doll themselves up
but as all the nights end
they come home with no luck
for this one has that
but that one has none
and another has a little
and he only some
and nobody nobody
has it all he
and so we all tell them
it’s just time to flee
and then we get smart
as the years pass us by
to what really matters
in this our life's try
since we cannot get all
from one person we meet
the one thing we must
is good sex and a treat
for then I declare
it’s really quite fair
to leave all of the rest
of our needs to just share
share with our mothers
our sisters and brothers
our friends on the phone
and all those in life’s zone
so that be the intro
for commitment phobe
and the very good reason
I call it schmobe
A silly little word I say
Because it’s better not to stay
To stay with anyone at all
If you decide you’d like to crawl
Or walk or run
From anyone
Your freedoms had
Your peace and soul
Are not so bad
You’re in control
You stay if you want
You go if you will
When there’s no reason
To be there still
Imagine all those
Who in remain without sex
In a life they call marriage
but is bondage and hex
and they think if they stay
that it’s good for the kids
to see them be cold
and all feelings hid
there is nothing much worse
than a life of a curse
playing nurse to a jerk
who just goes off to work
and comes home to demand
as he raises his hand
to all those it's clear
live a life that is damned
you go if you need
you stay if you wish
and yes in the sea
there are plenty of fish
but even the new
may not be good for you
so you must not commit
or you will take the hit
and the end of this word
for all to be heard
is you're free as a bird
for less is absurd
phobia schomobia
you do what you please
whatever it is
of course even to leave
for only the evil
demand that you stay
in this the world
