God's Hand in the Balance
When your cry for help seems unanswered
remember hearing nothing is an answer
it might be a "no" answer
and it might be a wait answer
but it is an answer
and when you're feeling like the attention God gives you
is no more than the attention you give to molecules
as miniscule as a soulless atom
and somehow feel purposefully locked out of Heaven
and Heaven doesn't even notice
i have a word for you
there's a balancing act going on
the physical laws of the universe
that God set up for stability
are in constant reckoning
with the creative power of faith
whether negative or positive
and all these forces both build up
and break down mountains
both spiritual and physical mountains
if God were to reward you for worry
He would be teaching you to worry
and He doesn't want that
if God just gave you everything and fixed everything for you
you wouldn't learn anything
and then there's just a time for death
which is life everafter
and death is not bad
but the form in which it comes has to appear to be
otherwise everyone would die chasing their delights
so when God's people suffer
there is nothing bad about God
nothing wrong with Him
He's not the problem
it's the free will of man
the physical laws of the universe that were set up
the testing and learning ground this world is for us
and the power of faith
these four
when does God intervene
and when does He allow us to suffer
it's a balancing act
suffering produces perseverance
perseverance produces character
and character produces hope
and hope will not disappoint us
so juggle then
when faith seems to fail
figure out what you need to learn
when knowledge fails
exercise faith
when you blame God
thank Him for the free will of humanity
and when the physical laws of the universe suck
just press on in the testing ground and focus on the good
Our instructions:
whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
you are what you think
you become what you say
there is no contradiction
if you constantly curse your life with your words
you will feel cursed
my sister and i had the same upbringing
but her memories are different than mine
because she focused on the good
and i focused on the bad
she's never bothered by anything
and here i am hammering out philosophy
sure
God can make lemonaide out of lemons
but it's the truth that will set you free
even the truth of the balancing act
when I was 15
i thought satan knew my every thought
The chief slayer and foe
that he knew everything I was thinking
and i thought that for 20 years
until the truth set me free at age 35
only then did it dawn on me
that satan is a fallen angel
and only God is all-knowing
angels aren't
what an uncomfortable place
my own mind day and night for decades
the imagining of evil itself
always stalking me in my thoughts
but you'd be surprised how many people
especially teenagers
that this truth will deliver
so my pain and torture was not for not
it built my character
gave me hope for the truth to set me free in all things
and now sets others free from that deception
after being born-again at age 15
i was all about God's miracles
then as years passed and things didn't happen
good things that I prayed for
everything became about the knowledge God gave me
for decades I grew in knowledge
and then it came to pass
that I couldn't fix some things even with knowledge
and so i felt God just didn't care
and i sat in the pit of despair for a long time
hopeless for the help of God
even handed my body to satan
for his destruction
telling God that surely satan would love me more than He does
but something was wrong
and it wasn't God who was wrong
in my youth He gave me vision and hope
in my trials He gave me knowledge
in my despair He gave me faith
and in my anger towards Him
He gave me love in return
His balancing act
the mystery of the universe
the Hand of God when He is silent and when He is not
the storm of atrocity
His lightning power
now seem a bit more clear
when the flesh hurts
it reaches for the spirit
even in pain and poverty
when the spirit of thankfulness is embraced
the soul is warmed and encouraged
and hope restored
have faith therefore
let the power of your words be evident
pray for knowledge
and consider all tests and trials
a refining of your character
whatever you do
don't lose the joy of your salvation
and understand full heartedly that your creator
of His own free will
laid down His life on the cross for you out of great love
paying the price for your sin
while you were yet a sinner
and said He would never leave you or forsake you
Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands. Deuteronomy 7:9
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. [a]
2 I will say [b] of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."
3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
even the LORD, who is my refuge-
10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation."
